Behind the Scenes of a High-Profile Event Planner

As an entrepreneur, it?s essential to hire good people. Your team is a reflection of you and your brand. This week on the Badass CEO podcast, I sat down with Stephanie Cove, founder of Stephanie Cove & Co. Stephanie and her team create uniquely inspired social events, high-end galas, weddings, and private dinners for high profile clients and brands.

Event planning is already a stressful industry, so Stephanie has worked to create a mellow work environment. She has built a team of flexible, responsive, reliable, and talented women, who are in rhythm with one another.

Stephanie describes her hiring process as ?non-conventional.? She follows her gut instinct to determine what kind of person they are and work well on her team. She looks for ?thoughtful souls who really want to take care of others? and people who can keep up with their fast pace. Stephanie also has some of her current team interview the person and values their opinions. She and her team love what they do, and like most entrepreneurs, find themselves working all the time, so it?s helpful to enjoy each other?s company.

Qualities I believe are crucial for an entrepreneur and their team are:

  • Ambition
  • Integrity
  • Grit
  • Positive
  • Willing to learn and adapt
  • Responsiveness and follow up
  • Proactive

My last piece of advice?don?t settle when hiring. It?s better to wait for the right fit than fill the role immediately.

I had the opportunity to plan an event with Stephanie?s team, and they are amazing. She has done a great job of hiring the right people. So when in doubt, follow your gut.
